Two fire engines have been spotted rushing through the city to a block of flats in St Johns.
A smoke detector had been activated which started the response to Severn House in St Clements Close at about 10pm last night (Wednesday).
Although it was a false alarm, a bystander said the fire engines had their lights and sirens on and firefighters were stood with fire hoses and fire extinguishers.
A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "It was a false alarm, a smoke detector had been activated due to cooking fumes."
