A MOTORCYCLIST is in a critical condition after sustaining serious injuries in a crash on a city estate.

A section of Drake Avenue in Dines Green, Worcester, has been cordoned off today (Wednesday) after a crash involving a motorbike and a lorry.

All emergency services were at the site of the crash with the road closed between Rea Way and Grenville Road.

Officers were seen speaking to residents on the estate to see if they had any information on the incident.

An officer at the scene said a person had been taken to hospital after the crash in Drake Avenue.

They said: “Officers are currently investigating the circumstances of the collision. Several police units were called. A cordon was put in place to manage the scene.

"The patient was taken to hospital by road ambulance. An air ambulance did land in the school field but was not required.”

West Mercia Police added that no arrests had been made.

"We’re currently in attendance at a two-vehicle collision on Drake Avenue in Worcester," a spokesperson said.

"One person has been taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with serious injuries.

"No arrests have been made. The road remains closed at the junction of Grenville Road."

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed a man riding a motorbike had been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham in a critical condition.

A spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.05am to a road traffic collision involving a motorbike and a lorry on Drake Avenue, Dines Green in Worcester.

"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midland Air Ambulance from Strensham attended the scene.

"Upon arrival, we found the motorcyclist in a critical condition.

"He received advanced life support and advanced trauma care from ambulance staff at the scene which continued en route to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was conveyed by land for further treatment.”
