A DROITWICH man turned his love of the outdoors into starting a business after struggling to decide on what to do after school.

Jack Cotterill, 28, runs Jack Cotterill Tree Services which is based at Hanbury Wharf off Hanbury Road near Droitwich and was established in 2014.

But 13 years ago at the age of 15 Jack was soon to be undertaking his exams and leaving school.

He had many hobbies and enjoyed being active but, with no real direction or ambition, struggled to decide on his next move.

That was until Jack’s parents suggested he bring together his interests and build a career doing what he enjoyed the most — climbing and being outdoors.

The seed was planted. After school, Jack attended college full-time and worked hard at several part-time jobs, determined to build a career and be successful.

At the age of 18 he continued to enjoy being outdoors, surrounding himself with encouraging and knowledgeable people.

With hard work and determination he qualified as a tree surgeon, launching himself further into the industry whilst continuing his learning by working for a company, building skills, knowledge and confidence and gaining further qualifications.

Ten years later as a fully-qualified arborist Jack continues to develop and share his knowledge and be enthusiastic about the industry.

The company has canal-side offices with a training room facility and a growing team of experienced, insured and qualified tree surgeons and grounds maintenance operatives.

All are able to undertake further training, gaining recognised industry qualifications and knowledge via a structured programme, developing personally and professionally to grow their careers.

The office is bright and welcoming with experienced staff ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of the business with high levels of customer service.

The company prides itself on providing the highest quality throughout its entire service, working expeditiously with integrity, excellent workmanship, high standards of cleanliness and with full transparency with its core values being excellence, innovation, integrity and trust.

Jack is thankful for all guidance offered over the years.

He is proud of the team, their positive attitude and hard work and is committed to helping to encourage and develop tree surgeons and grounds maintenance operatives who aspire to be the best they can be and strive to reduce the company carbon footprint.
